bodycompositionguide.com is self-funded by its author, Michael Hummel, NMD. No grants, institutional funding, device manufacturer funding, pharmaceutical funding, or supplement industry funding has been accepted at any point in the development or operation of this site. No investor or external party holds any stake in the site's content decisions.

If the funding model ever changes, this page will be updated within 30 days of the change taking effect, with the date of the change and a plain-language description of what changed.

Advertising

No advertising of any kind is displayed on this site at launch. This includes display advertising, native advertising, sponsored content, paid placements, and any other commercially compensated content format.

If advertising is introduced in the future, it will be:

• Clearly labeled as advertising on every page where it appears.
• Disclosed on this page with a date and a description of the arrangement.
• Separated editorially from the site's content so that advertising relationships do not influence coverage.

Sponsorships

No company, organization, or individual other than the author sponsors this site. No device manufacturer, no clinic (other than the author's own, disclosed below), no supplement company, and no hosting provider has any editorial input or has paid for placement, coverage, or favorable treatment of any kind.

This applies to the Research page in particular. The analysis of DEXA, BIA, BodPod, skinfolds, optical scanning, and related methods on the Research page reflects published evidence. It is not influenced by which devices Hummel Medical happens to use or which companies have sought favorable coverage.

Affiliate arrangements

No affiliate links are used on this site at launch. The site does not participate in affiliate programs with Amazon, BodySpec, InBody, Hologic, or any other company whose products or services might appear in the site's content.

If affiliate links are added in the future, each link will be labeled individually, and this page will be updated with the date the program started and a description of the arrangement.

Author's clinic disclosure

The author of this site, Michael Hummel, NMD, owns and operates Hummel Medical in Ashland, Oregon. Hummel Medical offers body composition testing services and is listed in the site's provider directory.

Because of this relationship, the following disclosures apply throughout the site:

• Hummel Medical is listed first in the provider directory. This placement is not merit-based or alphabetical; it reflects the author's ownership. The listing carries an explicit disclosure note.
• Nowhere else in the site's editorial content does Hummel Medical receive preferential treatment.
• The Research page's analysis of measurement methods applies equally to methods used at Hummel Medical and methods used elsewhere. If a method used at Hummel Medical has documented limitations in the published literature, those limitations are reported.
• Clinical interpretation notes on the Research page reflect the author's clinical reasoning. They are labeled as such and do not constitute endorsements of Hummel Medical's services.

Provider directory policy

Listings in the Find a Provider directory are offered to qualifying clinics at no charge. Selection criteria are based on the availability of body composition testing services and the author's ability to verify basic information. No clinic has paid for its listing. No clinic has paid for a higher position in the directory except Hummel Medical, which is listed first by author preference with open disclosure.

Provider listings do not constitute endorsements of any clinic's clinical quality, outcomes, or suitability for any individual reader.

Policy on accepting corrections

Corrections are welcomed and taken seriously. If you believe a factual claim on this site is incorrect, outdated, or unsupported by the cited source, please email info@hummelmed.com.

Corrections will be evaluated against the published literature. If a correction is accepted:

• The affected page will be updated promptly.
• A correction note will be appended to the section, noting the date of the correction and a brief description of what changed.
• If the submitter wishes to be credited, they will be named in the correction note. If they prefer anonymity, only the date and nature of the correction will be noted.

Corrections that are rejected will receive a reply explaining why the current text is considered accurate.

This site does not accept corrections that are motivated by commercial interest. If a company or its representatives submit a correction with the goal of removing unfavorable coverage of their product, the submission will be evaluated against the evidence alone.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated if the site's editorial arrangements change. Every change will be dated and described in plain language. A log of material changes is maintained below.
